This is part of the Milwaukee County Parks Postcard Series. Washington Park was a part of Milwaukee's original 6 parks and was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. what was originally West park became Washington Park in 1900. The 132 acre park once housed Milwaukee's original Zoo that began in 1892 with a small bird and mammal exhibit house in a barn. This image features The Blatz Temple of Music, aka the Washington Park bandshell. The bandshell was constructed in 1938 as an Art Deco design. Today the 8,500 seats at the bandshell still hosts the Summer concert series.
